This is an assembly video for the MIDI-Fighter midi controller offered by DJ Tech Tools. The kit is standard, but you do get to take your pick of which color arcade buttons to use.

Beatport Mobile

This varies a little from the normal posts on here, but is definitely worth mentioning. Beatport announced the launch of Beatport Mobile today. I checked the mobile site out using my iPhone and it is really well done.

The biggest drawback that I have found so far is that you can only add items to your cart, but cannot purchase and download from your mobile device. It does have a preview option for each track, so you can listen to audio clips. According to some comments listed on Beatportal (Beatport’s Blog), a full blown iPhone app is on its way.

Either way, the mobile site still gives you a way to preview the freshest EDM tracks from your couch with relative ease. Good enough for now…

DJ Caution Demos Vestax VCI-300

Great overview of the functionality built into the VCI-300. Really portable and convenient way to DJ. It comes loaded with Serato Itch, so all you need is a laptop. Vestax also recently dropped the retail price from $900 to $800.

TouchDJ iPhone App

It doesn’t get much cheaper or more mobile than this. Check out the videos on the TouchDJ app. Pretty slick, but would be great to have it with the robust functionality and effects of Pacemaker.

This device has been out for a while now, but I haven’t really seen anyone playing out with it. It will be interesting to see the next round of mobile DJ devices. Hopefully smaller and cheaper.
